The family of an Asbury Park man who was shot to death on Sewall Avenue July 28 at approximately 7 p.m. is organizing a peaceful march Thurs., Aug. 25 beginning at 7 p.m. in the 1600 block of Sewall Avenue in an effort to gather support to stop gun violence and receive justice for the death of Kyshon “Butey” Washington-Walker.
Lakisha Johnson said Washington-Walker, her younger brother, was shot to death just before his 34 birthday.
“Nearly one hour before his life was violently taken, he had dinner at our mother’s house,” Johnson wrote in an email. “Never in a million years would our mother have imagined that meal would be her last with her only son.”
The shooting is being investigate by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Asbury Park Police Department’s Detective Bureau. There have been no arrests.
Johnson said she believes there are people “who saw what happened, and have information about the gunman. We do not understand why people will not come forth.”
