The Asbury Park City Council has authorized a 3.8 million road reconstruction project for Memorial Drive.
Lucas Brothers LLC of Marlboro Township was the lowest of four bids – even coming in below the city engineer’s estimate. The project will involve roadway reconstruction, new curbs, sidewalks, drainage and sanitary sewer replacement as well as the installation of two new traffic signals on Memorial Drive between Asbury and Sixth avenues.
The Lucas Brothers said it could perform the work for $3,821,821. The other three bids ranged from $4 million to $4.92 million. T and M Associates, which is the city’s engineering firm, estimated the project would cost $4,092, 622.
In another matter related to engineering, the city has authorized a two-week pilot study to improve sludge thickening and odor control at the city’s wastewater treatment plant. The city will pay $7,000 to Orege North America Inc. to do the study.
