Paramount Realty paid to have the former water tower in Ocean Township illuminated.
If you drive down Deal Road in Ocean Township at night you can’t miss the 100-year-old tower now illuminated 200 feet off the road.
The abandoned Water Tower once provided water for the last remaining farm property in Ocean Township. It is being renovated by the Township of Ocean Historical Museum and the Town Council.
The farm was called Stucile Farm and was owned by the Ira Haupt Family, a Wall Street financier. Water was pumped from Poplar Brook to a steel tank at the top of the tower, and used to irrigate the farm and its livestock.
Paramount Realty, the developer of the 32 acres at the corner of Deal Road and Route 35, had said that they would like to see the tower lit up and the company financed the project. Last week MM Electric, of Neptune City, installed the lighting
