The Bradley Beach Borough Council is scheduled to meet in closed session May 4 to interview candidates for the post of borough administrator.
Greg Fehrenbach, former director of local government services for the state Department of Community Affairs, has served as interim administrator in Bradley Beach following the departure of Kim Humphrey, who is now the borough administrator in Keyport.
Humphrey continues to serve as qualified purchasing agent for Bradley Beach.
Whoever is hired as the new borough administrator will be the fourth person to hold the post since 2020.
Humphrey was hired in June of 2021 after a brief stint as deputy finance director of Monmouth County. She was borough administrator in Highlands from 2018 through 2020. For four years before becoming interim administrator in Highlands, Humphrey was the qualified purchasing agent and senior account clerk there. She spent 3 1/2 years as purchasing agent in Atlantic Highlands after more than 14 years with Keansburg in various finance department roles.
Humphrey succeeded David G. Brown II of Long Branch, who left to become township manager of Ocean Township. Brown, who is also chairman of the Monmouth County Democrat organization, served in Bradley Beach for just more than a year.
Brown replaced Kelly Barrett, who resigned as borough clerk and administrator early in 2020.
Of the last three administrators, Barrett served the longest, having been hired in June of 2017.
Barrett is the current secretary of the Allenhurst Planning Board.
