The Rotary Club of Asbury Park recently awarded scholarships to four local students. The scholarship recipients are: Jane Alto of Ocean Township High School, Chelsea DeLalla of Marine Academy of Science and Technology, Tysion Murchison of Asbury Park High School and Jaiden Rosal of Neptune High School.
In introducing the awardees, Ellen Korpar scholarship co-chair said, “Congratulations to our scholarship winners. They have excelled in both scholastic studies and community service.”
The scholarship program recognizes students who demonstrate an understanding of the Mission of Rotary International: providing service to others, promoting high ethical standards, and advancing world understanding, goodwill, and peace.
“These students demonstrate a strong commitment to serving their communities and we hope they continue to do so as they embark upon their college education. We hope they are future Rotarians,” Club President Tony Chambrovich said.
Murchison who will be attending Seton Hall with a dual major in biology and physician assistant hopes to pursue a career as a physician assistant and to help people in the community by providing better healthcare.
Rosal will attend Hawaii Pacific University said this scholarship will help her financially to study nursing and allow her to pursue her passion to help others.
DeLalla will attend Fordham and plans to study law and sustainability to allow her to achieve her lifelong goal to create sound environmental policies in the US.
Alto plans to study Industrial and Labor Relations to“help minimize the wealth gap that currently affects underserved communities in America.”
