A fatal shooting that took place in Asbury Park last week is under active investigation, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said this week.
The victim has been identified as Derek L. Bussey, 27, of Asbury Park.
Shortly after 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9, members of the Asbury Park Police Department responded to a location on Atkins Avenue between Adams Street and Boston Way on a report of a shooting. There they found Bussey, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Bussey was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after midnight on Thurs., Aug. 10.
A joint investigation by members of the Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Bureau and the Asbury Park Police Department is continuing.
