A swing dance night is scheduled for the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park Wed., Aug. 14.
The Wonder Bar, the Asbury Park music venue known for featuring top national and local live music acts, will welcome a DJ and swing night Wed., Aug. 14.
After a launch to its Dancing Under The Stars series — designed to bring dancing to the forefront of the Asbury Park scene — the Wonder Bar will offer it’s first ever Swing Dance night beginning at 7 p.m.
DJ Greg Nice of GSL Entertainment will be spinning the best of 40s big band, rockabilly, and 90s Neo-swing. Emcee / promoter Piper Williams will be on the mic and the dance floor instructing the swing dance lesson at 7 p.m. to jump-start the night.
“I hope to see everyone at Swing Night at The Wonder Bar,” said manager Debbie Delisa, “Our disco night was a great success with the crowd dressed in full disco look. Would love to see that again for Swing Night.”
“DJ Greg Nice would blow up the dance floors at Abyss and Hunka Bunka back in the day. Working with him to bring dance back to Asbury Park is huge for the scene and whole city of Asbury Park,” says promoter Piper Williams. “This is just the next step in the city’s nightlife evolution.”
But will a town synonymous with Springsteen and Southside Johnny truly embrace a DJ / emcee in their place?
When asked, DJ Greg Nice had his answer ready: “A great emcee and DJ have the power to deliver the right vibe on any dance floor,” the DJ said.
The dance lesson with Piper Williams starts at 7 p.m. and DJ Greg Nice begins his set at 8 p.m.
