The Long Branch Historical Museum also known as The Church of the Presidents is scheduled to celebrate its 70 anniversary of its founding Aug. 22.
In 1953, former Long Branch City Councilman Edgar Dinkelspiel and others acquired title to the former St James Chapel and the next year founded the museum on Ocean Avenue. Many remember the famous art shows held at the end of the summer each year to help maintain the museum and grounds.
With assistance from the NJ Historic Trust and a federal grant, construction on the final phase of restoration is scheduled to begin by late fall or early winter.
The Board of Trustees said it is pleased with the final phase of this process and looks forward to the museums door reopening soon.
Anyone interested in attending the 70th anniversary party is asked to contact any board member or call 732 233-0905 for more information.Advanced ticket are $125 by Aug. 15. Tickets at the door are $150.
