John’s Cracker Barrel in the Shark River Hills section of Neptune will be closing its doors Sun., Sept. 22.
Business operator Pierre Cruz said that the building has been serving the Neptune neighborhood in some capacity for 100 years. Cruz has operated the business since January 2019.
Cruz said the business will be out of the building by Oct. 1.
“We are forever indebted to the community of Shark River Hills for the support that you have given our small business and family over the past five and a half years,” the business wrote in a post on social media. “It has been a true pleasure and honor to serve the community as stewards of John’s Cracker Barrel.”
The post goes on to say that the business will cease operations due to “unfortunate circumstances.”
An outpouring of support accompanied the post.
Cruz is keeping a positive outlook in the face of the closing.
“Whoever inherits the building, we wish the best,” he said.
The business featured a variety of pizzas, subs, sandwiches, wraps, muffins, pastries, cookies and gourmet coffees.
Open every day it was a place to meet friends and neighbors for breakfast or lunch or grab sandwiches or subs to take fishing or to the beach.
