The Bradley Beach Business Community Alliance’s Visual Artists Community and the Bradley Beach Library are teaming up to sponsor the Harvest of Colors Art Exhibition Oct. 24 to Nov. 14 with the opening reception Oct. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the library.
Approximately 48 pieces of art work from 12 artists will be featured and the show’s concept is called “a colorful cornucopia of color, media and styles including paintings, photography, textiles and collage.”
“The 12 participating artists are all residents of Bradley Beach and belong to the Visual Arts Community, a recent initiative of the BBBCA,” said June Julian, VAC founding member and BBBCA Community Connections and Visual Arts advisor,. “The library show is the group’s third art exhibit since its inception last year.”
“June reached out to the library to inquire about a small art exhibit to help continue to establish the VAC’s presence in town and continue the success of prior exhibits at The James Bradley last September and Pasch Real Estate recently. June also expressed an interest in finding a way to bring children to the exhibit,” Bradley Beach Library Director Ashley Foglia said.
She said libraries have a long history of collaborating with artists to provide access to art in an approachable and accessibile environment.
“Libraries are free to access and often easier to access than a museum or other space where art is curated or displayed,” she said.
As this is the VAC’s first exhibit at the library, it was decided by the group that they wanted to present a Fall Exhibit at the library, after having successful exhibits previously at The James Bradley and Pasch Real Estate in the borough. The public reception for the show will feature a showing of all the artists’ work as well as light refreshments and a special artist Mona Lisa Mocktail, especially crafted for the event. A percentage of all art sales will benefit the Friends of the Bradley Beach Library.
“This is a smaller, more intimate show and consisting exclusively of Bradley Beach artists. The exhibit will be up for three weeks during the library’s usually operating hours,” Foglia said.
Information for submitting items for the exhibit can be found on the VAC portion of the BBBCA’s website or an email can be sent to artshow@bradleybeachlibrary.org to request forms.
