The Neptune City Ladies Auxiliary of United Fire Company No. 1 is holding a unique Christmas card experience for those looking to get an early start on their to-do holiday list.
The Christmas Card Family Photo fire department, will feature pictures with a 1954 Antique Ford Firetruck nicknamed Old Betsy and will take place at the borough’s Memorial Park near the gazebo Sat., Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reservations are required and the cost is $20 per family for a 20 minute session.
“This is the first time we are doing this type of event,” Auxiliary Secretary Diane Blaszka said. “Auxiliary member Sue Mitchell thought of the idea. She saw a similar event on Facebook. The 1954 truck was the first truck when our fire company got started. It is now located at Camp Evans in Wall where other antiques are stored.”
Those participating in the photo shoot should bring their own camera. Auxiliary members can also take pictures with a camera or phone for those who want to be included in the photos.
Pictures can be taken inside and outside the truck with pets also welcome.
“We wanted to try this event for the first year and might expand it with a Santa appearance next year,” she said. “After someone takes their pictures they can have them printed wherever they want. It’s particularly special for kids with first responders in their families.”
Blaszka said that the Auxiliary has 15 members currently and that one of their main functions is to fundraise for the fire company.
“In the past we have had gift auctions, steak and bakes, sold quarts of soup and flowers. They have all been huge successes. All proceeds help the fire company with equipment or anything needed to function well within town.”
“If time permits we will also take dog walkers or anyone who donates $20. All are welcome. Come one, come all,” she said.
