This is the current park area between Long Branch City Hall and the library.
Long Branch officials have announced plans to transform the area between City Hall and the Long Branch Free Public Library into a vibrant public meeting space and park.
The goal of the project, which is scheduled to receive $575,000 in funding—$475,000 from the county and $100,000 from the state of New Jersey—is to create a welcoming, accessible area for residents and visitors, officials said,
The design of the park will connect City Hall and the library, creating a retreat where people can unwind under the shade of trees, enjoy a good book, or listen to live music. The project includes new surfacing, a gazebo for concerts and other events, as well as upgraded lighting and landscaping, all of which are aimed at enhancing the area’s appeal and functionality. The Veteran’s Memorial Monument will continue to be a centerpiece in the new park.
“We are very grateful to the County Commissioners and Sen. Vin Gopal for their generous support,” said City Councilman Mario Vieira. “With the library’s renovations nearly complete, this new park will serve as an outdoor extension of that incredible space, offering a place for both residents and visitors to relax and engage with the community.”
This initiative is part of an ongoing effort by the administration to foster a healthier and happier Long Branch, officials said. Since 2018, the city has opened three new parks, and this latest addition continues the trend of creating more accessible green spaces that encourage physical activity, social interaction, and stress relief for the community.
“We envision the gazebo as a central hub for concerts and city events, turning this area into a true destination where people can come together and celebrate everything that makes Long Branch special,” Vieira said.
