A Tinton Falls man was arrested March 8 in Ocean Township and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Police said at approximately 8:40 a.m. officers were dispatched to a business on Route 35 for a report of a subject who appeared to be using narcotics while standing outside. Upon the officer’s arrival, they observed the subject holding a pipe used to smoke methamphetamine. They ordered the subject to turn over the pipe and began to question him about his identity. å
The subject provided a false name to officers, which was later uncovered during their on scene investigation. The subject was positively identified as Diandrea Smith, 38, and he was placed under arrest. Smith was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia. Smith was also found to have several active warrants for his arrest. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and providing false information. Smith was then committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending an initial court appearance.
