Plans for a rooftop bar and event space for the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel in Asbury Park are moving forward.
The Planning Board approved the resolution last week for a bar area, several tables, planters, and a sound mitigation plan.
With the resolution passed the developers will be able to resubmit plans which include some changes voted on by the board.
When those are approved developers will then submit construction plans.
According to Board Secretary Irina Gasparyan, there is a 45-day waiting period for construction permits to be issued.
Changes the board approved at an earlier meeting addressed lighting, planters, and security measures for the rooftop. There were two sound studies completed during the approval process, one independent and one by the board.
The area includes 10 large tables with seating for 10 each and several areas with smaller tables for four.
There is an elevator to the roof and proposed restrooms are located in the bar area.
In addition to the rooftop bar, space will also be used for private events such as parties and weddings so provisions for light fare including hor’s d’oeuvres and light refreshments will be made.
