A Sunday afternoon stabbing is still under investigation by Asbury Park police and the victim is recovering from non-life threatening injuries.
On Sun., Nov. 17 at about 12:45 pm, an Asbury Park Police officer was alerted to a victim lying in the area of the entrance to the Family Dollar store at 623 Main St.
The initial report was that the victim had been shot, however, the investigation revealed that they were the victim of a stabbing.
The victim, a 31-year old male city resident, was triaged on scene by the Asbury Park Fire Department, who then transported him to an area hospital for further medical treatment.
The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
The incident is believed to have occurred elsewhere and the victim arrived at the store seeking assistance.
The investigation is ongoing.
