West Grove United Methodist Church in Neptune is holding it’s second annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Expected to be a part of the afternoon’s festivities are pony rides, face painting, a photo booth, carnival type games and live music by the praise band New Song. Also included is picnic style food such as hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and drinks. In addition, there will be also be wellness screenings for diabetes and blood pressure by Neptune Rehab. All of the activities and food are free with the public welcome to attend.
Judy Bennett of Ocean Grove and a church member, said “It’s a nice family event to come to for a couple of hours. We had about two hundred people turn out last year for the event. You don’t have to be a church member to enjoy Family Fun Day. We welcome anyone to attend and join us for a day of community fun. It’s a way for people to come out and meet their neighbors, their friends and their family members.”
Bennett added that the event has been in the planning stages for the past two months with approximately twelve people from the UMC team events team finalizing the details.
There is no rain date for the event which will be held on the church grounds at 102 Walnut Street (corner of Route 33) in Neptune.
Bennett said there will also be signups at Family Fun Day for UMC’s Vacation Bible School program (VBS) scheduled for July 7, 8, and 9 from 9am to noon. This year’s VBS theme is “Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus Was a Kid.” Crafts, games, snacks and Bible stories are all a part of the program which is now in it’s third year at the Neptune church. There is no cost for the program. For more information about Family Fun Day or the Vacation Bible School (VBS) program contact the church at 732-774-6748.
