The annual Community Event and Gospel Extravaganza, sponsored by the Second Baptist Church of Asbury Park, will be held Sat., Sept. 19 from noon to 4 p.m. in Springwood Park.
It will feature local gospel artists and choirs from surrounding churches.
Due to the pandemic and social distancing, only 15 organizations and vendors will participate this year.
Some of the participating groups including the Asbury Park Board of Education; Interfaith Neighbors; Asbury Park Quality of Life Committee; Asbury Park Music Heritage; Kay Harris will bring her History of Asbury Park book along with masks and t-shirts; Moms Demand Action and Food Not Bombs.
The Visiting Nurse Association will be there to offer AIDS and Covid-19 testing.
The Asbury Park Democratic Club will host a table where residents can register to vote.
Also, Provident Bank, one of the sponsors will have a table.
There will be free hot dogs, Icees and soda for attendees.
Behind the Second Baptist Church, which is next to the park, the Mens Ministry will hold its annual fish fry, offering a fish sandwich, french fries and drink for $10.
