The Neptune Police Department is once again hosting National Night Out Tues., Aug. 4.
This community event has been a staple of the summer in Neptune for more than 20 years. National Night Out is an event held in over 16,000 communities across the country every year, created by the National Association of Town Watch. This annual community-building campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.
The goal of National Night Out is to enhance the relationship between citizens and law enforcement, bolster a sense of community, deter crime, and give the children a fun and safe night on the town. Neptune’s event will be held at the Midtown Community Elementary School from 5 to 8 p.m.
Children will have the opportunity to receive one of more than 20 brand new bicycles, bicycle helmets and many other prizes. Free food and refreshments will be provided as well as fun and games for the whole family.
This year the Neptune police are expecting 1,000 people to come out and enjoy the event. If you cannot attend police ask residents to leave their front porch lights on and sit outside to interact with neighbors, which is the spirit of National Night Out.
Police said by building better relationships between our community and law enforcement, we can make Neptune an even greater place to live.
