What do a magician, a jazz band, a comedian, DJ, and a photo booth have in common?
Neptune Mayor Kevin McMillan has created a unique venue for this year’s charity ball. The mayor and Matt Swartz, owner of Comedy Productions, along with the hard-working ball committee, have developed a fun and engaging evening. Joining in the fun is the return of Goodwin’s Good Time Photo Booth.
Also new this year are eight honorees chosen by the mayor to be recognized for their innovative ideas and community-minded service. The Mayor’s 2016 Innovator Award winners are Richard Allen, Principal, Poseidon Project and former Neptune High School principal; Jayne Flynn former owner of two Dunkin Donuts in Neptune (awarded posthumously); Annie Hainesworth, CHANT food pantry founder and director; and Katherine Witte, retired third grade teacher from Midtown Community School.
The mayor’s choice for Community Engagement Awards are Mark Clark, Summer Basketball League Director, Frizell Johnson, Biddy Basketball coach, Michael Zarro, Lieutenant, Neptune police department and Zeta Phi Beta Society, Alpha Alpha Chi Zeta Chapter.
Neptune’s Public Library is the beneficiary of this year’s Ball.
“Over the years the library has evolved from a structure composed of bricks and mortar to a vital resource to our community” McMillan said. “In the future, the library will continue to be in the forefront of the innovation process with the advent of new technology. I thank you for your commitment to such a worthwhile cause.”
