Christopher Hingston became a member of the Bradley Beach Police Department this week after he was administered the Oath of Office by Bradley Beach Mayor Gary Engelstad.
Hingston, who has been a special class police officer in the borough for the past two years, applied for the position after Captain Stephen Fahnholz retired on Dec. 31.
“We had a lot of candidates who applied for the job, and Chris excelled,” said Police Chief Leonard Guida. “He comes from a great service and we all love him here. He’ll make a fine addition and I couldn’t be more pleased.”
Hingston has a military background with the Coast Guard and before joining Bradley Beach was a police officer in Seaside Heights for seven years.
“It was a difficult transition leaving Seaside after seven years to come here (to Bradley Beach), but they welcomed me with open arms. I appreciate everyone coming out to support me,” Hingston said.
