Neptune City Borough Councilman Alex Tallman has resigned to move across country.
The council will meet on Mon., Aug. 6 at 6 p.m. for a work session to discuss Tallman’s letter of resignation and the council seat he is vacating.
Tallman is moving across the country to take a job as global supply manager for Apple, according to his social media pages.
A photo of San Francisco on Tallman’s Facebook page drew the comment, “Your new city,” from his sister, Neptune City Board of Education member Madeline Tallman.
Apple is headquartered in Cupertino, Calif., approximately 45 miles southeast of San Francisco.
On his LinkedIn page, Tallman lists Apple as his current employer.
Tallman received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University in 2017. He worked as lead energy buyer at the New Jersey-based Church & Dwight Co. and most recently as a buyer for L’Oreal.
He co-founded the Neptune City Family Foundation with other members of his family in 2016. The organization has sponsored dances and other activities for students at Woodrow Wilson School, which he and his sister attended. The 23-year-old could not be reached for comment prior to press time.
Tallman was elected to the council as a Republican in 2016 for a three-year term. His departure leaves the council with three Republican members and two Democrats.
Incumbent Republicans Rick Pryor and Andrew Wardell are seeking new terms in the November general election. They will face Democrat challengers David Calhoun and Meghan Huryk.
