This is National Volunteer Week and Bradley Beach recognizes the extraordinary spirit of volunteerism flourishing within its community. In this small seaside town, covering just over half a square mile, volunteerism isn’t just a gesture; it’s a cornerstone of civic engagement and community solidarity.
With approximately 600 adults, representing 20 percent of the town’s adult population, dedicating their time and talents to various non-profit organizations, Bradley Beach exemplifies a model of active community involvement and civic duty through its dedication to volunteerism, said the Bradley Beach Business and Community Alliance/
From those serving on the frontlines of the Fire department and First Aid Squad, ensuring the safety and well-being of neighbors, to the those contributing to the town’s various commissions, shaping its policies and future, and the many members of the Bradley Beach Business and Community Alliance, working diligently to support the businesses and enhance the lives of residents, volunteers in Bradley Beach are the backbone of its vibrant community.
The volunteer spirit also extends to the Bradley Beach Elementary School PTA, where parents and educators collaborate to enrich the educational experience of local students. The Bradley Food Pantry, supported by dedicated volunteers, provides vital assistance to those facing food insecurity. The Bradley Beach Historical Society preserves the town’s rich heritage through its volunteer-led initiatives, while the Friends of the Bradley Beach Library enhance literacy and community engagement through their programing efforts.
“Volunteerism isn’t just about giving back; it’s about forging meaningful connections, fostering empathy, and building a stronger, more connected community,” said Paula Gavin, President of the BBBCA. “In Bradley Beach, we are incredibly fortunate to have a wealth of individuals who embody the spirit of selflessness and generosity, stepping up time and again to make a positive difference in the lives of others.”
She urged residents to take a moment to express gratitude to the unsung heroes of Bradley Beach whose dedication and compassion illuminate the path towards a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
“Their unwavering commitment to serving others exemplifies the true essence of community, reminding us that in Bradley Beach, no act of kindness goes unnoticed or unappreciated,” she said.
Established in 2020, the Bradley Beach Business and Community Alliance is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization with the mission to bring business, residents, non profits and the municipality together in a collaborative partnership to strengthen businesses, enhance resident life and engage the community.
