An Asbury Park man was arrested last week and charged with burglary at a tent in the area of Bethany Block in Ocean Grove May 21, police said.
Police responded to the tent area after officials from the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association discovered a tent had been burglarized At the scene forced entry into the structure was observed. Police said the interior of the home was in disarray and multiple items were scattered about inside.
Other evidence was located at the scene, police said.
The investigation identified 44-year-old Godfred Adiapena of Asbury Park as the accused.
Investigating Det. Robert Hagerman later located Adiapena in the area of the Asbury Park Train Station. Upon approaching the accused a brief foot pursuit ensued and the suspect was quickly apprehended without further incident.
In addition to outstanding bench warrants, Adiapena was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
He was transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a detention hearing in accordance with bail reform.
The investigation was conducted by Hagerman.
