The Asbury Park School District invites the community to an African Art Show and Sale, Thurs., June 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. at The House of Independents, 572 Cookman Ave., Asbury Park.
The event will showcase a collection of photo images taken while students from the Asbury Park Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School, visited Ghana during their spring break in April. Students attending Asbury Park’s middle school had been videoconferencing with students in Abrem Agona over the 2016 – 2017 school year and had the opportunity to meet with their counterparts in Africa as Global Ambassadors.
The evening will include a video presentation of the Ghana trip experience as well as a brief presentation by students who participated in the trip.
In addition to the photo prints, authentic African hand carvings, jewelry, dresses, wraps, shirts, handbags etc. will be available.
This fundraiser event will benefit the future Abrem Agona Literacy Lab.
All are welcome and admission is free. Complimentary light refreshments will be served.
