Tinton Falls Fire Elections

 

coaster-news-200-newFire district tax rates will remain basically unchanged in each of Tinton Falls’ two fire districts under the 2017 budgets being presented to the public. Elections for Boards of Fire Commissioner members and for the budgets will be held Saturday, Feb. 18 with polling hours from 2 to 9 p.m.

The $1,529,120 budget for Fire District No.1 calls for a $1,103,269 tax levy, or the amount to be raised through taxation. This results in the fire district tax rate increasing by only one-tenth of a penny, or from 6.3 cents for every $100 of property valuation to 6.4 cents. General expenditures account for the small increase.

Incumbent Commissioner Samuel “Skip” Hawkins is running unopposed for a seat on the five-member Board The fire district tax remains the same in Fire District No. 2. The total $842,780 budget results in an $839,280 tax levy and the tax rate will remain the same at 6.6 cents for each $100 of assessed valuation.

Former Fire Commissioner Charles Bell, a long-time department member, is running unopposed for one three-year term to the district’s five-member Board of Fire Commissioners.
