7-Eleven to Open in Former Krauszer’s in Neptune

By ED SALVAS NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP – A new 7-Eleven convenience store is coming to West Grove Square on South Main St. across from the entrance to Ocean Grove in Neptune. The 7-Eleven will take the space that was formerly occupied by Krauszer’s as well as the adjacent space that was vacated months ago by a florist, according to Stephen Blitzer of the Blitzer Rosenblum Realty Group of Old Bridge Township, which owns West Grove Square. Neptune to Install 3 Monuments to Record Water Levels

  By DON STINE NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP – Neptune officials plan to install three monuments in the township that will officially mark water levels in past storms, especially Superstorm Sandy. “They will mark the flood levels of past major storms and will show the drastic difference between Sandy and anything we ever had before,” Mayor Eric Hougtaling said. He said the township will place three memorial markers, probably in stone, at Riverside Park, on the South Concourse near the Headliner, and in Ocean Gove at Central Avenue, near Fletcher Lake where high tides also caused damage. Fund-Raising Gala Celebrates 20 Years in City

  By ED SALVAS ASBURY PARK – The Center in Asbury Park observes another milestone this month: the 20th anniversary of its oldest and largest fund-raising event, Center a la Carte. The event takes place on Fri.,May 17 at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel and will have 500 guests sampling the food of 20 area restaurants, according to Rev. Neptune School Gets Blue Ribbon for Being Green

  NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP – Summerfield Elementary School in Neptune is one of only two schools in the state nationally recognized this week as a Green Ribbon School for incorporating healthy learning environments for students as well as cutting energy usage. Just in time for Earth Day, the US Department of Education recognized schools across the states for their initiatives in greening their facilities. Shark River Hills 6 Months After Sandy

By DON STINE Many homeowners in the Shark River Hills section of Neptune are still facing an uphill battle six months later following the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. And dealing with insurance and mortgage companies, and with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), represent some of the greatest challenges.
