A job fair was held last week in Asbury Park for high school students.
In a proactive step toward preparing students for the world beyond academia, Asbury Park High School joined forces with the City Council to host a job fair exclusively for high school students. Now in its second year, the aim is to bridge the gap between education and employment.
Held last week, the job fair was an opportunity for Asbury Park’s students to explore various career paths, interact with professionals from diverse industries, and gain insights into the real-world job market. By partnering with the city, the school ensured access to a wide range of employers, including local businesses, non-profit organizations and government agencies. Among the participants were: Asbury Park Beach Office, Asbury Park Police Department, Asbury Park Public Works, Asbury Park Recreation, Asbury Splash Park on AP Boardwalk, Boy Scouts of America, Monmouth Council, Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County, Building Bridges, Mayfair Boardwalk Grill, MOGO Korean Fusion Tacos, RoBeans Mobile Café, Sugar Pop, The 21st Century Learning Group Childcare: After School and Summer Programming, The Robinson Ale House and Iron Whale.
For many high school students, navigating the complexities of career planning can be daunting. However, by bringing employers directly to the school premises, Asbury Park High School demystified the process by empowering students to make informed decisions about their future.
In addition to providing employment opportunities, the job fair fostered a sense of community engagement. Also, the fair underscored the partnership between the school district and the city and their shared commitment to the holistic development of the city’s youth. By investing in students today, both the school and the council said they are sowing the seeds for a brighter tomorrow, where every student has the opportunity to realize their full potential.
