By BONNIE GRAHAM

At the most recent Ocean Grove Homeowners Association meeting residents were informed that the Historic Preservation Commission has approved the application for 4 Boardwalk – the North End Building.

The approved plan includes a separate, enclosed dining terrace with permanent windows that will not have air conditioning.  At this time, they are going forward with repairing the building.

Joan Venezia of the association’s North End Committee thanked the members of the North End Committee (Connie Ogden, Carol Woidt, Ann Horan, Mark Kourey, and Joyce Klein) for attending the various HPC and Township Committee meetings.

A resident asked if the Camp Meeting Association (CMA) would be required to pay to have access to the 4 Boardwalk.  Last year the CMA laid a temporary connecting asphalt walkway in that area.  Neptune Township Committee member Randy Bishop said, “It is their (CMA) asphalt strip.” Converting the blacktop to a boardwalk is a separate project.

The renovated 4 Boardwalk building will include stores.

In discussing derelict buildings  OGHOA Trustee Kennedy Buckley the  most derelict of the Ocean Grove properties is 80 Main Ave., located in the business district. This property is owned by two doctors from Howell Township.  The property has been cited for violations repeatedly, going back to June 2000, at which time it was cited for having an indoor stairway that was not up to code, Buckley said.

80 Main Avenue is an historic property and is currently listed on the market for $680,000.
