This Halloween, The Coaster asked Shore residents “Who is your favorite monster?” And here are their replies…

Terry Walsh, Ocean Grove - That’s a hard one. I love them all. Halloween was my favorite holiday. I used to decorate my garage into an elaborate Halloween scene. I had all the monsters. I liked Godzilla. He was one of my favorites. But I loved them all.

Mike Davenport & Mick Hale, Ocean Grove - Mike: My favorite monster is Godzilla, because he’s the biggest. Occasionally he’s the good guy. Mick: I have to go with Frankenberry. He’s like a take-off on Frankenstein, but he’s a cereal. He’s pink, and I love strawberries.

Bob Guido, Rivers Edge Restaurant - I like King Kong. He was a guy you could relate to. He was a gentle giant. They tied him up and took has gal away from him. What did you expect him to do? He busted loose and raised hell.

Carl Incles, Neptune - Michael Meyers from Halloween, the movie. Sometimes I dress up as him for Halloween. Everybody either loves him or hates him. He’s scary.

Sally Neal & Neala Mandel, Ocean Grove - Sally: I like the Cookie Monster because I like chocolate chip cookies. Frankenstein would be ok. I watched him as a kid. Neala: I like Frankenfurter from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I saw the play at Revision Theater in Asbury. It was excellent. They were very talented.

John & Barbara Merten w/Brenna & Jean, Ocean Grove - Both the kids like the Loch Ness Monster. It can swim. It’s a water monster. They’re looking forward to seeing it. John: The Jersey Devil. Something like Big Foot, but local. And there’s a really, really small chance he’s for real.

Jack & Doe Miskell, Bradley Beach - We both say Frankenstein. He’s a classic. Doe went out with a guy that looked like Frankenstein, once.

Irene Amspacher, Tinton Falls & Lorran Morgan, Belmar - Irene: The monster from Beauty and the Beast. I like him. Freddie Krueger scares me. He was a monster to me. Lorran: I like Hell Boy, he’s like a monster; a super hero. As for scary, Dracula. He always scares me.

Debbie Bozard & Kathie Morrisy, Beach House - Debbie: I’ll go with the Wolfman. I feel bad for him. I always did as a kid. He was cursed. He wanted to love somebody, but the full moon got in the way. I just felt sorry for him. Kathie: I’d say Dracula for the same reason. He needed blood. It wasn’t his fault. And the Hunchback. We both felt sorry for him.

Briella Nalasco, Palmyra’s Hair - Sully, from Monsters, Inc. It’s a Disney movie. He’s a nice monster. He’s emotional. His job is to scare kids, but he can’t do it. He’d rather protect the kids than scare them.

Steve Schiavo, Hazlet - The Tazmanian Devil. He’s kind of wacky. You say something and he spins out of control, if I remember my cartoons right. I think he’s on a Geico commercial, now.

Nicole Strafaci, Ocean Grove - I don’t like scary monsters, but I have a Yeti hat. So, I like monsters if they are cute. I liked Casper the friendly ghost. I like ghosts, but they have to be good ghosts. Kind of like the Wizard of Oz; good witch/bad witch.
