The Center in Asbury Park, one of the five locations across New Jersey to host The AIDS Walk, raised $20,000 more than anticipated at the May 7 event.
Proceeds from the walk support both Monmouth and Ocean counties said Patsy Vornhagen, public relations representative for The Center.
Hundreds of participants walked in Asbury Park in support of The Center to raise both awareness and funds for those living with HIV/AIDS.
“This event raised over $70,000 for the Asbury Park site alone, well over our $50,000 goal,” Vornhagen said.
The New Jersey Central Artists represented the MAC Cosmetics Team and walked in solidarity with The Center. This dynamic team of 40 plus participants raised $33,000.
The MAC AIDS Fund will match all funds raised by the New Jersey Central Artists.
In the 25 year history of The Center which provides support for those living with HIV/AIDS and their caregivers, no other single group to date has brought so much awareness and valuable funds to help those less fortunate in one single day, Vornhagen said.
