On Sun., March 18, at 3 p.m. the historic Stephen Crane House, 508 4th Ave., Asbury Park will celebrate “Women’s History Month” with a tribute to the great Nina Simone (1933-2003).
She was an American singer, songwriter, pianist, arranger, and activist in the Civil Rights Movement, all the while employing a wide range of musical styles. Her story, at times triumphant and other times sad, will be shown via the documentary “What Happened Miss Simone?” (2015, 101 minutes).
As usual, there is no cost for admission, but as in every year for Women’s History Month, we ask that all donations by check or in cash go to the “Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore.”
Light refreshments will be available.
