The Asbury Park Music Foundation will once again host free concerts three days a week for the summer. The three series bring different styles of music so there is something for everyone. Music Mondays at Springwood Park has diverse styles including Soul, Funk, R&B, Hip Hop and Jazz.

The Asbury Park Live series on Wednesdays features emerging local bands and the Asbury Park Concert Band brings a big band sound to the Boardwalk every Thursday. These 28 shows are supported by sponsors whose generosity brings the community together for free live music while also raising money for youth music education.

Music Mondays at Springwood Park

These free concerts take place at the Springwood Avenue Park located between Atkins and Union Avenues every Monday from June 24 through Aug. 27 (final show is a Tuesday). The main acts include local favorites Waiting on Mongo, JT Bowen and the Mighty Kings of Soul, the Soul Cruisers and many others. Opening acts will include many of the youth music groups sponsored by the Asbury Park Music Foundation youth initiatives and scholarships through Lakehouse Music Academy. Now entering its 4rd season, last year’s series attracted over 4,000 attendees for 10 weekly shows.

This year will include a farmer’s market provided by Community Greenmarket Organizers in collaboration with Interfaith Neighbors and the Mayor’s Health and Wellness Committee to promote healthy food choices and living. Vendors will include Kula Urban Farm and Dean’s Market. Kula Café will be providing food inside as well as outdoor café seating and a to-go menu for visitors to the concerts.

Shows start at 6 p.m. with free parking and easy access by train or bike.  Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. In the event of rain, shows will move to the Asbury Park train station (announced on the APMF Facebook page and Instagram).

The series is part of Asbury Park Music Foundation’s commitment to unite our community, support local musicians and inspire youth with live music. Our sponsors, committed to these same goals, include Interfaith Neighbors, Spring Lake 5K, Asbury Park Press, Madison Marquette, NJ Natural Gas, Mullin Foundation, Arrow Limousine, Rockrete Recycling, Asbury Audio and the city of Asbury Park.
