Neptune Business Administrator Vito Gadaleta will remain in his position until the end of 2020.
Gadaleta was appointed to his job in December, 2012 and his contract is up at the end of this year but he said previously that he would like to continue in his job until the end of 2020.
A resolution, which was never introduced at the governing body’s Aug. 12 meeting, called for Gadaleta to stay in his job only until March 31, 2020. If he did not accept this stipulation then his contract would be terminated effective Dec. 31 this year.
A large number or residents turned out for the Aug. 12 Township Committee meeting to voice their support for Gadaleta.
On voting for the resolution to extend the contract, Deputy Mayor Robert Lane Jr. said “we have the best” in Gadaleta, with Committeeman Kevin McMillan saying he is “doing a fantastic job.”
“I can’t think of anybody that gives me a better understanding of what it takes to run this township,” Mayor Carol Rizzo said.
Committeeman Nick Williams previously said that Gadaleta’s contract was up for review anyway since it ended at the end of this year and that the governing body was doing its due diligence by looking into the matter.
“But we have to look at eventually bringing someone else in,” he said.
