“It’s the story of my grandmother’s life experiences on a farm in Virginia, embracing the boldness of Harlem, and then setting roots in Asbury Park. Her resilience and strength is a thread tightly-woven around our family and her stories shared are a mere glimpse between the seams,” Edwards said.
The Asbury Park Museum will be hosting a reading and book signing for Edwards’ book “Now is the Acceptable Time” at the Asbury Park Public Library on Thursday, Dec. 5 from 7 to 8 pm.
The book gives a glimpse of life in the early 1900’s in Asbury Park, based on the many stories passed onto her by her grandmother Hazel Walker, who was born in 1911. The author allows readers to step back to relive those times through the storytelling of Mrs. Walker.
Limited quantities of the $20 book will be available at the presentation. “Now is the Acceptable Time” is carried at the Asbury Park Library or may be purchased on-line through Amazon.
