TV Executive is Keynote Speaker at Neptune Black History Month Celebration

Michelle Rice,  general manager of TV One,  is the keynote speaker at the Neptune  Black History Month Celebration scheduled for Feb. 15.

The program will be held  at the Performing Arts Center at Neptune High School from noon to 3 p.m.

An award-winning executive of broadcast and cable TV, Rice is a graduate of Neptune High School and has  a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Temple University and a Master of Arts degree in Communication Management from the University of Southern California.

As general manager of TV One, Rice oversees and leads all business, operational and creative aspects of the network. TV One is the largest African-American owned multi-media company and offers a broad range of real-life and entertainment-focused original programming, classic series, movies and music. Among fan favorite shows are Unsung, Uncensored, The DL Hughley Show, Fatal Attraction, and Urban One Honors.

“Speaking Truth:  African Americans in Journalism” is the theme for the Neptune Township Black History Month program.

Local journalists will be recognized including Senior Trail Blazers, Constance Holmes, Bob Farley, and Evelyn Payne.

Other participants include Asbury Park Technical Academy of Dance, and Neptune High School Jazz Band and A-cappella Chorus.
