A new format for a political debate will take place on Wed., Oct. 28 at 8 pm.
The challengers for the Asbury Park City Council will meet on the Facebook Group “Asbury Park Political Page” to talk about the issues. In a new twist on political debates, as the candidates discuss the issues in the comments section, the public can join in with comments and questions as well.
The goal of the forum according to the organizer is twofold: Unlike traditionally moderated debates which aren’t designed to get the candidate’s message out, this one is. Also, this format will give the public real time interaction with the candidates, which the traditional format doesn’t afford.
To comment, the public must first join the Facebook group, “Asbury Park Political Page.”
There will be strict rules on civility enforced.
The candidates taking part are Kerry Margaret Butch, Felicia Simmons, Arthur Schlossbach and Robert McKeon.
