Tim McLoone, owner of three restaurants on the Asbury Park boardwalk, said he plans to start construction soon on another restaurant on the boardwalk.
The restaurant is scheduled for the roof of the Iron Whale which is in the Fifth Avenue Pavilion.
“It will be called the Blue Heron and we’ll be starting construction soon,” he said.
He has aIso signed a lease to take over the bandshell, home of the Asbury Park Concert Band each summer.
“I love that band,” he said of the band that has just ended its 78th season under director John Luckenbill. “There are plenty of places to hear rock in Asbury Park.”
McLoone said and he believes there could also be jazz, country and gospel in the bandshell. He now must determine how to monetize the bandshell idea and to provide more comfortable seating.
“Asbury Park is doing great, it’s a wonderful city, everything is here, McLoone said. “The boardwalk has every demographic ”
But he notes the west side is struggling and the job won’t be done until that changes.
