Kristin X. Mahoney
By PETE WALTON
Kristin X. Mahoney is the newest member of the Bradley Beach Borough Council.
She was sworn in to office Oct. 11 shortly after the council appointed her to complete an unexpired term.
The vote was 3-0, with Mayor Larry Fox abstaining.
Fox nominated Deborah Bruynell to fill the post but the nomination failed when no one seconded his motion.
Councilman Al Gubitosi then nominated Mahoney and his motion was seconded by Councilman John Weber. They were joined by Councilwoman Jane DeNoble in voting to appoint Mahoney to the vacant seat.
The vacancy occurred when Meredith DeMarco resigned from the council on Sept. 30. Fox appointed DeMarco as acting municipal administrator after the council rejected his attempt to hire her on a permanent basis.
Fox said DeMarco resigned her position as deputy municipal clerk in the Mercer County township of East Windsor as of Sept. 22 in order to take the acting post in Bradley Beach.
A graduate of Fairfield University in Connecticut, Mahoney has been assisting Charles Schwab Asset Management with the integration of TD Ameritrade into Schwab’s operations. She previously served as chief of staff for risk management at Nuveen, and as vice president and director of operations for BNP Paribas Asset Management. Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Mahoney was a vice president and managing editor at Merrill Lynch.
Bruynell was one of four council candidates endorsed by Fox in the November 2022 general election.
Also at the meeting Jane DeNoble was chosen to replace DeMarco as council president.
DeNoble was nominated by Weber and the motion was seconded by Gubitosi, himself a former council president.
The vote to make DeNoble council president was 4-0 with DeNoble abstaining and Fox, Gubitosi, Mahoney and Weber voting in favor
