Asbury Park plans to host its first Made (and sold) in Asbury Park event Feb. 3 at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel.

The event, created by the city’s Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) program, will showcase the city’s UEZ businesses and highlight all that Asbury Park has to offer potential businesses and consumers.

“This is a first-of-its-kind event that will allow us to shine a light on what makes Asbury Park such an amazing place: its people and their creativity,” Asbury Park Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn. “Our first ‘Made (and sold) In Asbury Park’ will be one to remember. This is going to be the premier Shore event of the winter and people will not want to miss it.”

“Made (and sold) In Asbury Park will allow the city’s UEZ businesses to tell their story: what they make, what they sell and why they chose Asbury Park as their business home. It will highlight everything that Asbury Park has to offer, spurring heightened awareness of the numerous products that are made in the community. As part of the announcement, Asbury Park also revealed a new logo for the event, which will be used in promotional materials:

Attendees will be allowed to make purchases at the event, which will also feature live music as well as food and drinks for purchase. Businesses wanting to participate in the event should reach out to JulieAnn Murray, UEZ Business Development Administrator for Asbury Park, at Julieann.murray@cityofasburypark.com.

Available spots will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis and the city anticipates space will fill up quickly.

Business owners and entrepreneurs looking for a new host city, consumers looking for premier products and everyone in between looking to enjoy some good food, good music and good companies are welcome to attend.

Admission to the event is free to the public.

The UEZ program provides incentives for businesses to set up shop and create private-sector jobs. UEZ registered businesses are able to charge half the sales tax rate – currently 3.3125; make tax free purchases on most items for their businesses; and take advantage of the various business assistance programs offered by Asbury Park’s UEZ office.
