An administrator from Mercer County has been named city manager in Asbury Park. Lillian Nazzaro will move into City Hall Jan. 16 replacing Donna Vieiro who is retiring.
Nazzaro was hired by the City Council with a unanimous vote at the council’s Dec. 6 meeting. She brings a strong administrative background to the city, having spent the last 20 years in Mercer County government where she rose from deputy county counsel to administrator for the last five years, the first woman to hold the office.
Nazzaro received a bachelor of arts degree from Temple University and a law degree from the University of Dayton Law School.
Prior to the appointment, City Attorney Fred Raffetto outlined the search for a new city manager that involved the assistance of JPM Recruitment, which presented 36 resumes leading to the six finalist interviews, narrowed down to Nazzaro. The new city manager is a resident of Hopewell Township.
