Rock & Roll for Recreation returns to the landmark Stone Pony April 25.
This event will feature live music by one of the state’s top party bands Shorty Long and the Jersey Horns, a performance by Elvis impersonator Richie Santa, buffet dinner, one-hour open bar and one of the most popular auction events along the Shore.
The event is scheduled for Thurs., April 25 from 6 to 10 p.m. This year Sylvia Sylvia-Cioffi, executive director of the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce will be honored.
Proceeds will raise money for the Recreation Department’s six-week summer recreation program, which includes trips to Sky Zone, Liberty Science Center, American Dream Mall and Asbury Park’s beaches and local businesses.
In the fall of 2015, Mayor John Moor said: “I will do whatever I can to ensure no Asbury Park child will be turned away from this program, because of limited funding.”
Due to the overwhelming positive response, since 2016 no Asbury Park child has been turned away from the program. Moor said the goal has been met every year.
“With your support we are confident we will meet it again,” he said.
