Ocean Township officially opened its indoor golf simulator facility.
The Christopher Siciliano 10th Hole, located next to the William Larkin Golf Course, houses three golf simulator bays and one private simulator bay. The refurbished facility also offers a meeting and event space.
Siciliano, the former mayor who resigned to take a position as the Superintendent of Elections for Monmouth County, was on hand to cut the ribbon.
“What a great addition to the town to think about what the building could have been, and the impact it could have had on the neighborhood and now to have something in perpetuity, hopefully, that could generate a little revenue for the township and give us a nice place to go in the wintertime,” Siciliano said. “So fantastic.”
Multiple township officials were on hand to celebrate the occasion with Recreation Director Mike Butrico receiving multiple commendations for the work he had put into the project from idea to completion.
“This is very special,” Butrico said. “I’ve never done anything like this in my life.”
Butrico said that Siciliano was the perfect person to named the facility after due to Siciliano’s love for the game.
“There’s no better name than having Chris’s on this building because he golfs here all the time,” he said. “He’ll play with anybody that will play with him.”
Attendees were welcome to experience the state of the art simulators, competing in a close to the pin and longest drive competition.
Chick-Fil-A of Ocean Township provided food and beverage as township officials and golf aficionado’s discussed the finer touches of the building.
The 10th hole is open to the public. It will offer monthly memberships for discounted hourly rates. The facility may also be rented as a whole.
Mayor John Napolitani complimented Butrico and the township staff that resurrected the defunct facility that sat vacant for many years.
“I have to say, we have by far the greatest staff in the state of New Jersey,” he said.
