Police in Ocean Township arrested a Red Bank man following a burglary at a vehicle on Monmouth Road Nov. 12 at about 12:20 a.m.
The owner of the vehicle called the police while the burglary was occurring to report an unknown person in their vehicle.
The caller approached the man, Edward J. McGrath, 33, of Red Bank, who then fled north on Monmouth Road.
Police officers located a person in the parking lot of the 7-11 who matched the description provided by the victim.
After a brief investigation, it was determined that McGrath, had committed a burglary to the victim’s vehicle. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters.
McGrath was found to be in possession of several items which are believed to be proceeds of other burglaries.
He was then interviewed by detectives and charged with burglary and theft and also had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.
He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institute.
Police remind residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables from view.
