Ocean Township police arrested a Toms River man March 3 following a report of an attempted burglary at a Marcy Place residence.
Police said at approximately 1 a.m. officers were dispatched to the residence after the caller reported someone was attempting to break the front door of the residence.
When officers arrived on scene, the subject had fled through several back yards before being spotted on West Park Avenue. Officers were able to apprehend the subject, now identified as Devin J. Gelewski, 21, of Toms River and confirm that he was the person who attempted to enter the victim’s home. Gelewski was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing.
He was charged with resisting arrest, criminal trespass and criminal attempt (burglary). He was released on a summons pending an initial court appearance.
Officers involved were Matthew Vallone, Brenden Bernhard, Mario Paden and Aaron Pingitore, Det. Michael Legg, and Sgt.Jeff Malone.
