A 31-year old woman who last week set off a two-hour standoff with law enforcement in Allenhurst is in jail and facing charges for various offenses, said Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Lindsey DiGeronimo, of Spier Avenue in Allenhurst, is charged with third degree Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, third degree Possession of a Weapon (knife) for an Unlawful Purpose, and fourth degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (knife).

On June 7 at approximately 7:10 p.m., Allenhurst Police received a 911 call from DiGeronimo’s boyfriend advising that he had been stabbed by DiGeronimo. Officers responded to the scene, where DiGeronimo was home but refused to respond after repeated attempts to contact her.

The apartment building was evacuated, as were nearby businesses. Police closed off the surrounding area with the assistance of the Monmouth County Rapid Deployment Force and local officers from Deal Police Department.

After a two-hour negotiation with officers from the Monmouth County Emergency Response Team (MOCERT), DiGeronimo was taken out of the apartment. She was treated on scene by the Allenhurst First Aid Squad and was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment on a self-inflicted, non-life threatening injury.

At no time was there any threat to the community and the neighbors were allowed back into their apartments at approximately 10 p.m.

If convicted, DiGeronimo faces 5 years in prison on both the third degree offenses and 18 months incarceration on the fourth degree crime. She remains detained at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending her first appearance in Superior Court, scheduled for June 13.
