The Township of Ocean Museum is scheduled to show the cult movie favorite “Return of Dracula” starring Oakhurst native Norma Eberhardt at the West Park Recreation Center (next to the Community Pool), 615 West Park Avenue, Oakhurst, 7 p.m., Wed., Oct. 25,–just in time for Halloween.
The event is free and open to the public. The years have been kind to “Return of Dracula.” It’s now a cult favorite—and a special treat for area fans. It stars Norma Eberhardt (1929-2011), Oakhurst native, international cover girl, and stage, film, and television actress.
That Eberhardt left home to became a top model and Hollywood star is a storybook tale of its own. Spotted by a New York fashion photographer at the Easter Parade on the Asbury Park boardwalk, she skated on a glide path that rolled her from magazine covers, to billboards and eventually to Hollywood itself.
She moved in the most prominent circles with the biggest stars in the entertainment industry of the day. In 1955, she returned home to Oakhurst with war hero and French actor Claude Dauphin, to be married at the Oakhurst Methodist church on Monmouth Road. The couple lived at Peter Pan Farm, on Park Avenue., Oakhurst.
