An Ocean Township man was arrested Jan. 7 after barricading himself inside his apartment on Allen Avenue.
Police said at approximately 4:50 pm officers were dispatched to an apartment on Allen Avenue for a welfare check.
When they arrived officers were met by the resident, Conor Dougherty, 35, who was immediately confrontational with them and indicated he had a weapon. Dougherty retreated back into the apartment, locked the doors and refused to speak with the officers on scene. After several failed attempts to make contact with Dougherty, the Monmouth County Emergency Response Team was activated and responded to the scene.
Several hours later officers were able to contact Dougherty and he was taken into custody.
He was charged with terroristic threats and will be committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending an initial court appearance.
Officers responding were Christopher Stenger, Timothy Kolodziej, Christopher Coeyman, Sean Edson, Detective Michael Legg, and Serg. Gregory Martone
