Ocean Township police arrested a Tinton Falls man July 26 in connection with a burglary at the Township Pool Complex on West Park Avenue.
Police said at approximately 8:21 a.m. they were dispatched to the complex on for a report of a burglary that had occurred during the overnight hours. This was the third reported burglary that had occurred over the past few weeks at this location.
Surveillance cameras had been installed and captured the suspect on video entering the building and removing cash. Dets. Christopher Clune and Zachary Rhein responded and processed the scene.
Later in the day, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and observed the suspect from the video inside the vehicle. The suspect was identified as Matthew Murphy, 33, of Tinton Falls. Murphy was arrested on unrelated charges and transported to headquarters for processing. Murphy was ultimately charged with burglary and theft. He was released on a summons pending an initial court appearance.
