A Shrewsbury man was arrested this week in Ocean Township and charged with criminal sexual contact.
Police said on June 6 at approximately 3 p.m. detectives received a report of a possible criminal sexual contact that had taken place at a business on Route 35.
The victim reported that the accused approached her, asked for money and a ride and then touched her inappropriately before she was able to get into her vehicle. Det. Arthur Barnek took a formal statement from the victim and then responded to the business where he retrieved surveillance video that confirmed the victim’s account of the events.
The accused was positively identified as Thomas E. McManus, 65, and was located by Detectives Steven Walker and Dean Schoch, placed under arrest and transported to HQ. Detectives interviewed McManus where he admitted to touching the victim in a sexual manner, police said.
